The Singapore Flyer is the world’s largest Giant Observation Wheel , at a height of 165m, it reaches 42 stories high, 30 m taller than the famous London Eye.
Located on the southeast tip of the Marina Centre reclaimed land, it comprises a 150 m diameter wheel, built over a three-story terminal building. It offers broad views of the city centre and beyond to about 45 km, including the Indonesian islands of Batam and Bintan, as well as Johor, Malaysia. Each capsule has a 28 person capacity and each revolution takes approximately 30 minutes.
The Singapore Flyer was first conceived by Patrick MacMahon of Melchers Project Management (MPM), in the early 2000s. The project was formally announced and endorsed by the Singapore Tourism Board on 27 June 2003.
Early designs showed a 169 m high wheel similar to the London Eye, drawing criticisms that it lacked originality. The Singapore Flyer officially opened on 15 April 2008.

Personal Account:
As I looked forward to my journey on the Singapore Flyer, the brochures that I see provide glowing review about the Singapore Flyer exciting me, and I eagerly anticipate the upcoming ride. My expectations intensified as I reached the holding lounge. The smell of the harbour and the sparkling waters of Marina Bay stirred up my imagination.
As the capsule inched up ever so slowly, so do my feelings of exhilaration. I couldn't help but be moved by the stunning scenery: the azure blue tropical sky, towering skyscrapers, pockets of lush greenery and the vibrant city. It’s a picture perfect moment.
At the peak, I saw the sunlight on the waters, a clear view of the marina stretching into the horizon. My heart warmed at the immense beauty of it all: it inspired and moved me. I was simply lost for words.
The spectacular view of the bay against beautiful skies, tug-boats at the waterfront highlighting the picturesque mix of modernity and history: all of it is the Singapore Flyer experience. The Singapore Flyer: a moving experience at every turn.
